One month in

It has been one month since I decided to give Beachbody a try and exercise more consistently. I started about 132 pounds. I have seen 129 on the scale, but I'm 131 today, so I probably haven't actually lost any weight.

In January, I worked out 11 times. I didn't follow the 21-day fix schedule exactly, but I did my best considering my migraines, Jack's migraines, Eliot staying home on quarantine for COVID exposure, and the many snow days. This morning before school, Eliot said he was excited to have PE today because he hadn't gone to PE since before Christmas--they were out so much! They had two four-day weekends! So, yeah, January was hard for starting a new exercise habit and establishing a routine, but I'm proud of myself for getting in those 11 workouts.

In February, I hope to exercise three to four times a week with Beachbody. The weather has been horrendous (so cold! and two snow storms!). It is raining today, but tomorrow gets a little better. This week, I hope to add in some running too. Maybe I can get two days in this week. I have some meetings at school and doctors appointments for the boys.

I know "life" is going to keep on coming, and every week will be busy with work and the kids. It's tough. I hope I can continue to build up my habits. Slow and steady increase.

When I started a month ago, I was definitely very sore at the beginning. I hadn't used those muscles in so long. I am getting better following along and needs less modifications. My left hip and knee often pop and crack. It hurts and I don't want to irritate anything too much.

Food has been going well. The snow storm and general food shortages make meal planning difficult, but we have stayed pretty consistent. Tonight for dinner, I am grilling chicken with mushrooms and zucchini with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil. Low carb, low fat, lots of veggies. That's my main strategy.

For diet, I also have to be careful to follow my migraine elimination and low-histamine diets. That cuts out a lot of my go-to healthy food options and basically completely does away with smoothies and protein shakes. Booo. I have stayed on that diet for a month now, and I think that I had less frequent and severe migraines last week. It generally takes a month to see results. So, maybe. I'll keep at it and see.

So, January was a successful improvement in activity, but not so much for results. February should be better.
